I am not a "political" person, but I felt with the looming possibility that Zach doesn't get paid in the event of a government shutdown, I had better write my Congressmen. I'm just super glad that I get to trust in the Lord, not some lawmakers. Here's what I sent:
I am a military wife. My husband has sworn to protect, honor and defend the United States so that this country can strive for peace and stability. It strikes me that you are called to that same duty as a politician, and yet your fellow politicians cannot even extend the hand of peace to one another and effectively compromise to determine a budget. Please uphold this standard of honor that my husband and his colleagues have given their allegiance to, as you step up to the plate and come to a decision. I urge you to be the peacemaker, and encourage your fellow Senators to become colorblind over their Red or Blue agendas and think of the people you have sworn to lead.
Thank you for your consideration.

Great thought Ashley! I think our leaders in Washington should get their act together and really look at what's best for America, not just their own jobs.
